Sarah McCann grew up in Seattle, WA and had and obsession for music “since dancing in the living room with my mom blasting Marvin Gaye & The Temptations.” The combo of soul and heavy influence of grunge a la Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden, she’s described as having great ears and strong opinions. At the age of 19, Sarah moved to LA and at 21started working for Rose Mann-Cherney at Record Plant Recording Studios. She quickly gained studio & industry knowledge by interacting with the incredible talents coming through the door such as Justin Bieber, Will I Am, Pharrell Williams, Jennifer Lopez, Elton John, Ron Fair, Lady Gaga, Kanye West, Frank Ocean amongst others.
In 2011 Sarah became Project Coordinator for leading vocal producer Kuk Harrell. Kuk green-lighted her crash course in the music business and through him she began dealing with power players including Barry Weiss, Scooter Braun, Benny Medina, Jay Brown, Karen Kwak, Larry Jackson, LA Reid etc. Sarah did everything from coordinating sessions, hiring musicians, turning in credits to turning in final mixes and merited her first A&R coordination credit for Justin Bieber’s album Believe. In late 2013, Sarah became a manager at leading management company Advanced Alternative Media. While at AAM, Sarah was taken under the wing of the great Beka Tischker where they would work on many artist projects with top songwriters & producers such as Julia Michaels, Mozella, Lindy Robbins, Noel Zancanella, Sarah Hudson, and liaise with all labels and publishers like Universal, Sony, Polydor, Warner, Big Deal, Interscope and so on. While at AAM, Sarah was instrumental in the 8x platinum record “Sorry” released by Justin Bieber, co-written by Julia Michaels.
After 4 years at AAM working alongside Beka, Sarah wanted to learn a new skill and joined the publishing team at Primary Wave. While there, she signed two creatives; indie r&b artist RVRB and the renowned producer/writer DJ White Shadow, who she still considers a close friend. Just after a year and a half, there was an opportunity for her to re-join her mentor Beka Tischker and as of March 2019, she is an A&R for Wide Eyed Ent. and her first signing was on the rise artist Tobi Lou.
